The Way the Church Ought to Be
Published in Paperback by Xulon Press (June, 2002)
Author: Robert Allan
Average review score:

Anyone seeking God, take heed...
Robert Allan's well researched and scripturally based perspective of God's intention for believers, and those who would believe, is exactly what's needed in these days. Like me, you'll find yourself laughing uproarously one moment, then brought to tears, as God uses the author to touch you in the deepest reaches of your spirit. You can't read this book without realizing how significant you, and the Church, are to a lost world and the onus we have in it. A powerful must read!

Here it is - All in one book
WOW !!! "THE WAY THE CHURCH OUGHT TO BE" is a must read for the serious (committed) follower of the Lord Jesus. This book is a wake up call for the honest at heart. Mr. Allan's methodical march through the scriptures cements each point together with the truth of the Word. As I read I could feel the Spirit quicken my spirit and feel my heart jump for joy to words I've so long felt but haven't been able to express. Page after page, chapter after chapter, I could feel my heart shout "Yes! Yes!"
Of particular interest, the chapter on the Church and Spiritual Warfare cut to the chase, with a no holds barred simplicity that went to the crux of the issue with the statement "Satan and his demons don't care whether we leave them alone or not, for they will attack us anyway". This point, I feel many people including myself in weaker (lazy) moments try to forget that reality. We think and hope (mistakenly) we can opt out of the battle and let someone more 'spiritual' deal with the issue. We feel we have enough to do just coping with our everyday burdens - not realizing the everyday burdens are in reality a result of conflicts in spiritual realms.
In a physical battle, everyone whether high or low, is crucial to the ultimate outcome. A lowly clerk in the quartermasters corps or a back sink man in the mess hall, cannot abdicate their responsibility and just leave it to the 'Navy Seals or Airborne Rangers' to win the war all by themselves. It takes the concerted efforts of everyone involved to accomplish the objective.
In the spiritual realm, Satan although already defeated, relentlessly pursues our souls with ferocity beyond human comprehension. God in his grace has given us the opportunity to partake in this struggle. I feel we will be blessed when we actively participate.
Woah !...... Let me catch myself, I don't want to write my own book here. It's just that Mr. Allan's scholarly endeavor is a superb example of a work directed by a man with a heart for God and a desire to serve Him in thought and deed. He has meticulously and methodically searched the scriptures for the passages that illuminate God's plan for his church. This he has presented in a fresh, lively format uncommon in many books dealing with biblical subjects. Pardon me for being repetitious, but in closing I must say; this book is a must read for the serious (committed) follower of the Lord Jesus.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Robert Allan's book is a breath of fresh air. His argument is tight, well-presented and supported with Scripture throughout. Any pastor, leader or church member interested in discovering the Biblical blueprint for the construction of the Christian church would do well in buying this book and reading it. I especially enjoyed Mr. Allan's use of humor (the gallows variety) when dealing with some rather heavy questions.
I gave the book to my pastor and he read it. He liked the book so much that he ordered a copy for each of his staff.
My pastor commented that there should be a workbook available so that interested parties could study the book like a training manual.
I am exremely impressed with this book and hope that Robert Allan writes another one soon.

What If
Published in Paperback by Genesis Pr Ltd (November, 1999)
Authors: Sandra Schaffer and Robert Williams
Average review score:

highly recommended
At bedtime, a mother tries to tuck her son into bed, but he decides that it's a good time to say, "but what if...," delaying bedtime as long as he can.

The little boy dreams up all kinds of things such as WHAT IF... butterflies could sing, WHAT IF... trees shrunk to the size of a flower, and WHAT IF... he had a pet kangaroo named Cornflower.
Regina Williams's book WHAT IF... is written as if a small child sat beside her and told her dream-like ideas as she wrote it down. This fascinating story is filled with enchanting, imaginative thoughts that almost any child, and parent, can relate to with ease.

Because this story takes place at bedtime, it makes the perfect story to read to children at bedtime.

The brilliantly colored illustrations by Doug Keith, are breath-taking, and magically capture the little boy's dreams.
Included on the back panel of the book, is a cleverly designed drawing that glows in the dark after holding it up to a light. Children will love it.

Regina J. Williams came up with the idea of WHAT IF... by making it a game with her daughter, Kayla. They'd challenge each other to come up with creative what ifs. Williams is a speech and language pathologist for public schools. She lives in New Boston, Texas with her husband, and two daughters, Kayla and Grace. WHAT IF... is her first book.

It comes highly recommended by this reviewer.

great for bedtime.
What if children went to bed at bedtime without trying to stay up as late as they can get away with? Well, then, we would never have this charming book by Regina Williams with its enchanting pictures by Doug Keith. The swiftly moving narrative is told from the point of view of a little boy playing "What if" games to prolong his time with Mom before going to sleep. Cleverly, Williams ends each page with "and what if...," so that page turning is encouraged, and puts a glow-in-the-dark page at the end so you have to turn out the light to see it! Your child will be fast asleep before long with visions of unicorn-shaped clouds and falling stars dancing in his or her head. This large and colorful book provides a beautiful accompaniment to dreamland.

a great gift choice
As you tuck in your child, does he/she ever play the what if... game? Regina Williams brings this game to life in a lovely illustrated story book. A perfect choice for a bedtime story, the little boy uses his imagination right up until the moment he falls asleep. "What if dogs grew on dogwood trees" or "What if flowers tasted like lollipops." This story is sure to make bedtime a more fun and creative experience for both children and parents. As a bonus, this book includes a glow-in-the-dark page to enjoy. What If... would make an excellent gift for the holidays. Don't miss it!

Alligator Baby
Published in Hardcover by Cartwheel Books (September, 1997)
Authors: Michael Martchenko and Robert N. Munsch
Average review score:

A favourite
This is one of our favourite books. A humorous look at a new addition to the family. This was the perfect story for our two children when #3 child arrived, the humour takes away some of the stress and expectation for young children when a new baby is joining the family. Also a great gift.

Very Good
My son loves all the Robert Munsch books. He knows exactly what makes kids laugh and this book is an excellent example of this.

School Kids love Aligator Baby!
This is my fifth year with the elementary school, yet it is my first year in the library. The first book that I read to the children was 'Aligator Baby'. I believe what the children love the most about this book is that there is never a dull moment! All the children participate in what is going to happen next, and they enjoy finishing the sentences. This tells me that the children are focused, and they want me to read it over and over! It is fun to act out the parts as I read to the classes. (1st grade to 3rd grade.) I really do need more books like this one for the chidren. One of the specials that I have with the children is that each child can share a "favorite page" from a book they borrowed. The students always have something good to say about 'Aligatory Baby'. Thanks

Powerful and insightful ....

love and menstration. This book is a must read for any women who
has been hurt by a man .For we all share a bond in sisterhood

Beautiful Stories About Female Sexuality
I didn't notice it until I sat down to write this review, but this book was written for adolescents. However, I got a lot out of the book, and I'm 27 years old! This is a very short book (you could read it in less than an hour), but it's chock full of beautiful, and painful lessons about female sexuality, love, relationships, and healing. My favorite story was House Arrest, which was written in "Dear Diary" form, and is about a young woman having to overcome her fear of leaving the house after being raped coming home one evening. Even though that's a painful issue, the writer handles it in a rather humorous way. Other issues addressed are remaining a virgin, incest survival, a lesbian coming out to her family, and losing oneself in an unfulfilling relationship, to name a few. As another reviewer mentioned, this is an excellent read for ladies of ALL ages, because we, or someone we know, have faced, or will face some of the issues addressed in these powerful stories.

Aghora II: Kundalini
Published in Paperback by Brotherhood of Life Books (December, 1994)
Authors: Robert E. Svoboda and Robert Beer
Average review score:

Fantastic
We meet again Vimalananda, the Skotch-guzzling, chain-smoking, horse-racing, corpse-sitting tantrika of "Aghora: At The Left Hand of God" fame. Anyone remotely interested in tantra, yoga or Indian philosophy should read this book, if only for the marvelous allegorical interpretations of the Vedas and Vedangas that you may not find elsewhere. For example, Indra is the Lord of the Senses (Indrayi); and the esoteric Ramayana is a story of Hanuman/Prana's crossing the sea/chakras to the muladhara/Lanka where Sita/Kundalini lies captive, hostage to sense-deluded Ravana. Some stories are best taken with a pinch of salt--a pinch to make sure you're awake; salt to learn the alchemical lessons: for example, turning the sadhu's sandals to ash by mere touch (holy smoke!) or judging the jnana of a saint by the size of his feces (BS!). There is some question whether Vimalananda "really" existed or is only "imaginary" but, to me Vimalananda is as real and influential as Thrice-blessed Hermes, Hamlet, or don Juan de Mateo. Plus, the good doctor teaches how to raise shakti from Svadishthana to Anahata.

Best possible recitation of "subjective reality"
This is an excellent book on Tantra. If you are a spiritual seeker or simply wondering about spiritualism or confused about religion and spiritualism or for any kind of spiritual questions in your mind this is book for you. Aghori Vimalanda, who had experienced the Ultimate, kept a low profile happened (or pre-destined) to come in contact with author who lived in India at that time. This was live narration of his encounters with ultimate spiritual energy or kundalini maa and author did an excellent job in compiling his recitation of his cosmic experience into words, of-course, as much as could be possible. Unlike many other books this is not a mere theoretical, vague and ignorant explanation of old scriptures because she (kundalini) is a "subjective reality" thus can not be imagined or understood by "objective" confined mind but can only be falsely interpreted and made poisonous. If you are wondering about some God men, who they are? How they can make some people pursue, how they start claiming themselves knower of all and thus God men - read this book before taking your next step.

Bom Tara!!!!
This is a beautiful book. It is not a Tantrick manual nor a book attempting to make you 'realize'. It is simply inspiring...It takes you into the heart of a tantrick..his reasonings for his emotions...His love for the goddess. This book will change your life if you understand it properly...It reminds you of a love you once lost yourself

The Altar Boy
Published in Paperback by Finbar Press (01 October, 1998)
Author: Robert K. McDonald
Average review score:

The Altar Boy
For a first novel, Mr. McDonald did a very nice job. Good characterizations and very believable dialogue. The story line was good. He writes about what he knows, that being the world of finance. I read his bio....what is a mud engineer?

Crisp and intelligent, with vibrant characters
Mr. McDonald offers a grounded, intelligent snapshot of life on Wall Street and beyond, peopled by a variety of memorable characters. Perhaps surprisingly, given the Wall Street setting, the older personalities are drawn with particular flair and heart. The protagonist, too, emerges as vivid and real: more someone you know than just a character in a book. A fine first novel.

The following is a reference for the "Altar Boy."
The Altar Boy is a quick, fun read. McDonald's tour through the twisted world of investment banking and the frenzied world of big city romance, left me laughing. It was a treat.

The Water Babies
Published in Audio Cassette by Blackstone Audiobooks (November, 1998)
Authors: Charles Kingsley and Robert Whitfield
Average review score:

Good!
This book is really good. Some of the words are a little hard for young kids, but if your parents can help you it's enjoyable. Kingsley's style and allegorical references make this a delight to the senses, not only as a story, but as an example of a writer who truly enjoys his craft.

The Water Babies
This book was a wonderful novel to read. It showed how little kids were treated durning this time period. Once the faries found Tom his life changed forever. The author explained how he started out as little boy and saying bad words to how he changed and in to a understanding boy. The book is a wonderful read because it shows what happens to others who don't know what it's like. Not all of this is true because it is a fairy tale. The author's one quote that stayed with me the most is "You're not supposed to belive all of this because it's a fairy tale even if you do believe. This is a powerful story and should be read to little children. It will show them that being bad is not the way to go. If kids learn tpo be nice when they are young then it can stop hatred and people being mean in future years.

British Fairy Tale: Ahead Of Its Time
The Water Babies is an excellent example of British Literature that should be promoted just as much as the works of Lewis Caroll or Dickens. Charles Kingsley's work was banned for quite a while. There is no question that this cleverly written fairy tale has a lot of hidden information to explore. Makes one wonder if one can still be an Anglican minister and promote evolution? Perhaps, one can. Mr. Kingsley has other wonderful works to explore and in addition, there is his niece, Mary Kingsley who wrote on Africa.
